Binaural beats and brainwave entrainment have become hot topics recently. However, a lot of information out there about binaural beats is highly inaccurate and sometimes even misleading.

Several online sites position binaural beats as being this Holy Grail that can change your personality or your fortunes within minutes. Nothing could be further from the truth. In this article I am going to talk about the science behind Binaural Beats and how they are meant to be used for brainwave entrainment.

It is true that Binaural beats are highly beneficial and scientifically proven method to induce certain brainwave states in the brain. When your brain goes through such transformation, naturally, the effects will be visible in the physical sense – but it takes time and precision. So let’s start unpacking this a bit more and learn the facts about Binaural Beats and brainwave entrainment.

What are binaural beats?

Binaural beats are effectively a pair of frequencies that are transmitted through headphones into your ear. The sound that is audible is different in each ear. As the ear-drum vibrates to perceive each frequency, the difference between the two frequencies creates a specific vibration that, while isn’t audible, is picked up by the brain. If that difference, which I will call the binaural effect is of the right frequency, then it can induce certain brainwave states in the brain.

Here’s an example. Suppose you have a binaural beat that’s sending 100Hz to your one ear and 107.83Hz to the other ear. The resulting binaural effect will be 7.83Hz, which is the difference between the frequencies transmitted to both ears.

7.83Hz also happens to be the Schumann Resonance – in plain English, the frequency at which the Earth’s magnetic field vibrates. It is long believed to be a very powerful frequency that can induce stasis or a state of balance in the body, bringing it in line with the Earth’s natural frequency.

How do binaural beats work?

Furthermore, 7.83Hz also happens to be a frequency that falls within the Theta brainwave frequency which ranges from 4Hz to 8Hz. In most adults, you won’t even be able to hear this frequency on its own if it was to be transmitted as a straight up 7.83Hz tone – go ahead, give it a try. Here’s an online tone generator using which, you can hear what 7.83Hz Schumann Resonance frequency sounds like. what are the different brain waves?

Binaural Beats and Brainwave Entrainment

Continuing from the example above, something magical happens when your brain starts to perceive that 7.83Hz frequency with the help of binaural beats. The brain starts to move from Beta, which is the conscious state to Theta, which is the second layer of the subconscious state.

Theta is a very powerful brainwave frequency. Speaking figuratively, it is often considered to be the inner-room of the subconscious mind, while Alpha is the doorway that leads you there.

Ok so what’s the big deal? The big deal about it is that when the brain is in Theta state, it is open to what’s called “super learning” – during that state, the subconscious mind is equipped to alter neural pathways according to whatever the brain is being subjected to. Further study into the subject of subconscious reprogramming has revealed that it is this suggestibility of the subconscious mind that can lead to permanent belief change in the subconscious mind.

So the next question should be what should the brain be subjected to in order for there to be some permanent belief changes in the subconscious mind. This boils down to the level of focus and the intent with which you entered the inner room of your subconscious.

If you went there just for a stroll with all the worries of the world on you shoulders, all the noise about that email you needed to send, that phone call you had to make, that bill you needed to pay – then you can hardly expect to be able to access anything deep and meaningful in the brain in order to lead to some form of reprogramming, let alone a belief change.

Hence, it is vital to begin the process of entrainment by defining your intention and the clear outcome you want to achieve from the process.

Identifying contrast in emotion to determine the right intention for entrainment

If you have read my article about how thoughts become things then you will know that at any given time, the frequency you’re vibrating in is what determines how you are feeling (emotionally) and how your brain is packaging and re-packaging the reality that you perceive. Simply put, your emotions (which come from your heart) instruct you mind to package a reality that is projected by your brain and perceived by your 5-senses.

Sounds “new agey”? I don’t blame you. The mainstream thought police has done a great job of disarming the intellect in the masses that most people cant go beyond what they don’t know or what they’re uncomfortable with. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Keep reading and you’ll see what I mean.

Let’s say, you’ve been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety lately. The contrasting emotion to that, which you want to feel is “not having stress and not feeling anxious”. So the right intention in that case would be to declare that “I am letting go of all my stress” and ” everything is going to be ok” and “I am safe”. You see, it is important to understand the default setting of the subconscious mind.

Given that the subconscious mind is responsible for keeping you alive, the last set of genetic mutations that occurred in homo sapiens around 200,000 years ago embedded a “fight or flight” response. as far as the subconscious mind is concerned, the 24 hours in a day is all about keeping you safe and alive. So when you start feeling anxious, it is a chemical response generating from the lower three energy centers of the body that are instructing the brain to fire neurons that might sound something like “we need to do something… these are uncertain times… life is stuck. I am stuck. What if it doesn’t go according to plan, what is your plan B…do you even have a plan B? how are you going to survive?”. In the absence of a more focused, intentional thought process, your brain defaults to its base setting which is the “flight or fight” response.

So when you’re in the inner room of your brain, the subconscious mind, if you walk in there with the right intentions, you can quickly calm your brain down and if you teach yourself how to do it properly, you can even change the neural pathways permanently to never feel anxious again – unless you live in a coastal town and a 400ft tsunami is on its way. In that case, you want to make sure you brain triggers the “flight” response because you’ve got to survive that tsunami. Otherwise, there’s no need for those anxious thoughts leading to stress.

So what is entrainment?

I want to take this opportunity to clarify the definition of entrainment.

If you look at the dictionary meaning of the root word, “entrain” – it means to “get on board a train” or to “draw on”. The correct way to understand the real meaning of entrainment is to see it as the process of “getting on the right train of thought”.  I see it as a process of “training” the subconscious or better yet, reprogramming the subconscious mind that leads to belief change so that you have clarity in that “train” of thought – if you catch my drift.

It is important to not get side-tracked or bedazzled by sensationalist headlines on videos on YouTube that say “Theta binaural beats – in 24 hours”. I have been guilty of that myself back when I didn’t know the truth about binaural beats and how they work. It is true that binaural beats and brainwave entrainment can lead the brain into highly suggestible brainwave states. It is also true that scientifically, the evidence is irrefutable that brainwave entrainment can provide significant benefits to mental health.

What isn’t true is that binaural beats can manifest a lottery win or a new house or a new job within 15 minutes of listening to them. That’s just hocus pocus with no material or scientific value.

How to use binaural beats for Law of Attraction & Manifestation

Straight up, I’m a huge believer in the law of attraction and the raw power of the universe that can manifest anything you want. I am a living proof of this and I have manifested many INCREDIBLE things over a period of time that have proven to me beyond any doubt that the Law of Attraction works.

It might be a little strange to see me talk about Law of Attraction (LOA) in the middle of an article that started off with a very scientific narrative. Actually, it shouldn’t surprise you. What good is it to access the very room in your mind that is responsible for majority of the subconscious beliefs if you can’t change those beliefs. And what good is it to change those beliefs, if you can’t use the power of the subconscious mind to manifest things that you want.

So, instead of a round-about manner, let me put it bluntly.

Brainwave entrainment >>>> Suggestible Brainwave States >>>> Belief Change = Manifestation Fulfilled

That’s the name of the game. That should be the focus. That should be the clear intent with which you engage in entrainment.

The Brain OS subconscious reprogramming system uses binaural beats entrainment to induce various brainwave states to achieve different outcomes. For instance, the Quit Smoking subconscious belief change program induces a Theta brainwave state in the mind. While in Theta, the subliminal messages transmitted to the brain help establish beliefs that are supportive of the intention to quit smoking and actively un-link or uncouple beliefs that encourage smoking as a habit.

5 Important Facts About Binaural Beats

Now let me highlight a few important facts about binaural beats.

  1. To experience the binaural effect and have the brain perceive the binaural frequency (e.g 7.83Hz from our example above), the binaural beats need to be heard using reasonably good quality headphones with stereo sound. Binaural beats won’t have any effect if you’re listening to them on your phone or laptop using a speaker. In that case, you need to consider using Isochronic beats instead of Binaural beats.
  2. Listening to binaural beats for extended periods of time can lead to audio fatigue inside the brain whereby the mind stops perceiving those beats. In my experience, I have discovered that using them for anything beyond a hour or so is just the same effect as using them for less than an hour.
  3. Know the frequency that is generated by the binaural beat. In other words, calculate the difference between the beats transmitted to both ears and consider whether it is the right frequency to induce the target brainwave state.
  4. Brainwave entrainment, used on its own, takes time to establish long standing changes in the subconscious mind. If you use subconscious belief change programs developed by Brain OS, then you have a much better chance of achieving longer lasting (sometimes even permanent) results, faster than you ever could.
  5. Remember the purpose of brainwave entrainment. It is to shape the mind to improve the way reality is perceived on a day to day basis. Hence, the emotional state that accompanies the mental state when you begin the entrainment has a huge impact on whether or not you will achieve the right outcomes.
