Law of Attraction or LOA and the ability to manifest a new reality always attracts a lot of attention. However, despite the plethora of books, YouTube videos, How Tos and instructions on this subject, the vast majority of people aren’t able to experience the benefits of LOA.
So in this article, I am going to explain how the Law of Attraction really works and why many people aren’t able to manifest things the way they hope they could – ultimately resulting in them considering the Law of Attraction just some hocus pocus new-age belief.
Before I dive deeper into this subject, I encourage you to approach Law of Attraction from a scientific perspective as opposed to a spiritual one. While there is a strong spiritual aspect to LOA, if you don’t understand the logical, pragmatic aspects of LOA, and hinge your entire belief system on spirituality alone, you are likely to face greater hurdles leading to greater internal resistance to the idea that you can manifest anything you desire through LOA.
Having said that, even taking a scientific perspective, it would be a mistake to attempt to understand LOA without untangling a common misconception that exists about the word “karma”. Coming from an Indian background, I can tell you that this word, is probably the most misinterpreted word in the history of the east-west medley.
Allow me to explain further. Karma, the Sanskrit word, has 2 meanings. The meaning is dependent on the context (of course) and most importantly the intention the word is meant to express when used in a sentence. One is an active verb – the act of doing. Although spelt as Karm (in English), is meant to be pronounced as curm. This version of the word simply means the act of doing. Nothing else.
The second meaning is a lot more profound and has an aspect to it that can confuse even the most educated of the lot. The second meaning is to do with the combined record of all of actions undertaken as “Karm“. So Karma (with an A in the end when spelt in English, although the spelling is exactly the same in Sanskrit for both and is without an A sound in the end) becomes the record of deeds if you will. However, these deeds aren’t dependent on the gravity of good or evil in those actions. It is merely a record of all the actions irrespective of the flavor, type or outcome of those actions. Kind of like the ledger of deeds.
Law of Attraction has absolutely nothing to do with either Karm or KARMA. Now many of you reading this will find it incomprehensible. How can something good be manifested without having enough good deeds within your karmic storehouse…well because the Law of Attraction is not a matter of cause and effect. That’s how Karma works. Not how the Law of Attraction works.
Law of attraction is all about CAUSING EFFECT not relying on cause leading to effect
Dwell on this for a moment if you will. This one misunderstanding can lead you down a very slippery path where unbeknownst to you, you might be living life taking actions, thinking that those actions are driving you toward the destiny you were born with. This belief system is driven from the gross misinterpretation of a very famous verse from Bhagvad Gita, the Hindu sacred text which is a list of instructions given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna during the epic battle of Mahabharat.
The scripture goes like this:
कर्मणये वाधिकारस्ते मां फलेषु कदाचन । मां कर्मफलहेतुर्भू: मांते संङगोस्त्वकर्मणि (Chapter 2 Verse 47).
Karmanye vadhika raste, Ma phaleshu kadachana
Ma karma phala he tur bhuh, ma te sangotsva karmanye
This statement was made in the context of a particular action that Arjuna was being asked to take toward which he experienced tremendous internal conflict and hesitation. This is not a blanket rule for all “actions” or deeds. So moving on from this, lets agree on the simple idea that the Law of Attraction IS NOT influenced by your actions. You cannot undertake any specific action to bring about manifestation from the Law of Attraction – this was the biggest breakthrough I experienced in understanding how LOA works.
You cannot perform any specific act that brings forth your manifestation. Yes, you are required to undertake “inspired” action (e.g. trying to manifest a soul mate and allowing yourself to be invited out to parties where you could potentially meet your soul mate) or “direct” action (e.g. trying to win the lottery and needing to buy the lottery ticket) as Source Energy leads you closer to your manifest destiny. But you cannot do anything to “hurry things along” or assist the universe in bringing about the manifestation.
Law of Attraction is better understood when you understand the Law of Replacement first
As I have mentioned in my previous articles, the Universe functions on energy. The Source Energy that created everything around us is responsible for everything we perceive through our five senses. All matter is energy and all matter vibrates at a certain frequency.
This includes you and me. We have a vibrational frequency too. This frequency is not constant but changes throughout the day as we go through experiencing different emotional states. The heart, which is a powerful magnetic field generator in the human body, generates the necessary magnetic force (read Zeeman Effect) and signals the brain to produce a large enough electrical charge (read Stark Effect) that creates the electromagnetic field (known as the human biofield) that causes reality to be manifested the way it does.
I know.. some big words there… lets unpack this a bit more. You read it in one of my earlier articles that thoughts become things and manifest themselves in a way that our bodies can perceive it. This is something driven by the heart, not the mind (as commonly misunderstood). In other words, the reality you experience now or the one you will experience in the future is not a matter of mindset but a matter of having the right heartset. I know, this isn’t something that’s commonly talked about. Because the intellectually dead masses have gladly accepted that to change your future, you need to overcome your mind and to overcome the mind isn’t an easy thing – so why bother, lets just stay the way we are and focus on “deeds” and not worry about their “outcomes”. In other words, focus on “Karm” and let “Karma” take care of the rest – its a rather lazy approach to life.
We are called to be creators. Not mere survivors.
Anyway… I digressed for a bit. Back to the core issue. You also know that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be transformed from one state to another. Everything is energy. All matter vibrates at a certain frequency. Whatever it is you are trying to manifest is also made up of energy that vibrates at a certain frequency.
Attraction isn’t attraction alone, it is replacement first because remember energy can only be replaced. So it is absolutely crucial to understand what to replace with what in order to bring about the right manifestation.
For that, let me take you on a journey into the Quantum Realm. A realm of infinite possibilities. A realm of infinite potential.
In the field of science, any conversation about Quantum elements (smallest of the smallest aspects of matter and energy) is often accompanied by words such as “potential”. This is not the same as “your child has great potential”. This is a scientific term that means the exact attributes associated with a certain energy or particle is yet to be determined and it is considered to be existing merely as a “potential” where it can be and it cannot be at the same time.
Erwin Schrodinger, Austrian physicist explained this concept of quantum potential very well through his world famous Schrodinger’s cat experiment in 1935 (yes, science has known about all this for a long time). The experiment was rather simple. A cat, a flask of poison, and a radioactive source are placed in a sealed box. If an internal monitor detects radioactivity, the flask is shattered, releasing the poison, which kills the cat. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. Yet, when one looks in the box, one sees the cat either alive or dead, not both alive and dead.
Bear with me. This can get quite trippy.
The fate of the cat is not determined until the box is opened and an observation is made. Prior to that event (Quantum event), the cat is both alive and dead at the same time. Observation has a very strange impact on how matter manifests itself in reality. The famous double-slit experiment can give you such a massive headache that you will begin to look for the contact details of your high-school physics teacher only to call and ask, why weren’t you taught this in school.
Until something is observed, it does not exist. As much as Albert Einstein himself struggled to comprehend this uncomfortable aspect of Quantum Physics, several years after the Copenhagen Interpretation, through the release of a very famous paper commonly known as the EPR Paradox (Einstein, Podolsky, Rosen Paradox, made famous by Tony Stark in the latest Avengers movie), Einstein made peace with the fact of Quantum Entanglement (which he called, Spooky action at a distance).
Ok enough with the heavy science. Lets get back to LOA.
The reason I had to take you on this short journey into quantum physics is to come to the point about the dimension of time. You see, we have been mentally trained to see things in a time domain that goes from past through present to future. We try to interpret our reality on this time domain – which is why, we can never come up with something that travels faster than light from this 3-Dimentionsal reality where time is a construct that falls outside our concept of reality. Its a dimension of its own. The fourth dimension.
However, the moment
